I was born in Lisbon, Portugal in the sixties of the 20st century. I'm a professional graphic and web designer but photography is my passion, my therapy and pain killer.
Photography have always been around ever since I can remember. My father had drawers loaded with hundreds of black and white photos and slides of family candids, travel and vacation landscapes, the inevitable sunsets... My childhood and early youth memories are still fresh thanks to his vintage Voigtlander Vito B and later, the Pentax KX.
At my 8th anniversary I got my first camera, the Kodak instamatic 25. Years later I got the Agfamatic 2000 Pocket and in 1990, my first SLR, the Praktica BMS. in 1995 I entered my first photo competition and I won the first prize, a photographic safari in Kenya! In this 10 days trip I used my brand new Sigma SA300 N and 24 Fuji Velvia rolls!
Today, with digital, photography is much more accessible. We can shoot and re-shoot without film expenses but it's also easy for lazyness to settle in if we don't fight the trend of not giving enough thought on creating the image instead of just taking a snap.
I really enjoy to shoot with my Pentax K10D and edit the photos in Photoshop, giving them a whole new visual appeal. I hope you like to see them aswell. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any comment, question or image request.
